4 Reasons You Shouldn’t Be Sleeping On Video Marketing

The online world is booming like it never has before, and with the continual rise of social media, it’s completely transformed the way business operates now and how we reach our customers and potential clients. Utilizing these platforms and leaning into visual marketing is where it’s at for brand awareness and successful sales.
Video is one of the most effective forms of online brand marketing – yet so many small businesses haven’t dived into the world of video marketing to share their brand.
I can’t stress this enough…you are leaving money on the table if you aren’t investing into video content for your business and brand and video content can completely change the trajectory of your business.
Still don’t believe me?? I have 4 reasons why you need to get this ball rollin’ and get on camera, but first let’s talk about…
SHARING YOUR BRAND ONLINE
Most people spend a lot of their waking hours online–so marketing in this space is crucial for the success of any business. And we as businesses have soooo many different ways you can share the message of your brand online, including:
1: Written content: blogs, interview features, and articles.
2: Partnerships and referrals to link with other brands (on websites and social media)
2: Engaging with customers over social media
4: Running ad campaigns (e.g. Google or Facebook ads)
5: Harnessing the power of brand videos on websites, social media, and in ads.
VIDEO IS IN RIGHT NOW (AND WILL STAY THAT WAY)
Notice how videos can actually be used in all of the techniques mentioned? Video is powerful and super dynamic–blogs can include video, video ads are used on social media, you use video on Instagram stories to engage & connect with your customers on social media, and highlighting your business in brand videos on your web is an effective technique (more on that later).
So why is video marketing so popular right now and why should you stop sleeping on it??

83% of marketers believe that video marketing is vital. Since experts trust in the growth of video marketing, this of course means more online content will be video (let’s be real–we’ve already been seeing this shift drastically in the last few years!)
To stay relevant, that means jumping on the strategy of the rest of the marketers as soon as you can.
#2: CONSUMERS AND CUSTOMERS PREFER VIDEO
And, according to Popvideo, viewers will retain 95% of the message shared when watching video (compared to only 10% of the message when it’s read in text).
Here’s one of my personal real life examples for ya:
About a year ago I was shopping for a projector on amazon. I first narrowed it down to projectors with 4 stars or higher (speaking of which, you’re asking your clients for reviews/testimonials, right? good reviews gives shoppers that initial trust to consider your product/work…)
As I scrolled down the page on Amazon of all the 4+ star projectors, I quickly became overwhelmed because so many of them seemed so similar.
I didn’t really understand the value of the different projector benefits without actually seeing what it all meant.
And then….One seller had a full, in-depth video about their product and showing it work.
And boom—immediately they had me sold, and I chose that one.
Why? Because not only did they have good reviews, but I understood more about what I was buying, and I felt reassured about how well the projector works. Watching a video about their product made me feel more confident and comfortable with my purchase.
#3: IT’S ONLY GOING TO GET MORE POPULAR
It’s forecasted that by 2022, 82% of global internet traffic will come from downloading and streaming videos.
Why? Because video is the easiest to engage with. It gives you more information than text alone, and it requires less effort for people to consume. So, of course the trend of video marketing is rising, because the number of people watching videos is increasing in a huge way.
#4. YOU CAN DO IT
Finally, another key reason not to ignore video marketing for your brand is… it’s not as hard as you think! First, there’s ways to show up using video that’s completely free. Hellooo, I’m lookin at you, Instagram stories & IG/Facebook lives!
I’m a big believer that every business should be utilizing both free video marketing methods to connect with their audience *and* paid professionals to create high quality video content that connects with your audience and converts to sales. High quality content helps to build brand awareness, gain trust as a professional & position yourself as an expert/authority within your field, you can run it as an ad, etc.
Video marketing used to be only for the big dogs…think about how 20 years ago, the only video marketing business owners could really do was tv commercials. Not only did businesses have to invest in tens of thousands of dollars to produce high quality commercial content, they also had to pay for the time slots on tv (which broadcasted it to all people within a certain region). like holy crap y’all, talk about a HUGE shift. You as a business owner can hire a professional for high quality video content, have it on your social media & website at no additional cost, and if you do choose to run it as an ad, you can target your exact audience (down to age range, interests, location, etc). Y’all, this is INCREDIBLEEEE. YOU 👏NEED 👏TO 👏TAKE 👏ADVANTAGE 👏OF 👏THIS!
